Saying no to a good offer
Sometimes a genuinely good side job arrives in a week that's already full. Saying no, or not yet, is part of keeping side work sustainable.
Check the row first
Look at the weeks the job would land on. If they're already near full, taking it means something else gives: sleep, the day job or family time.
Offer a later start
"I'd love to help. I'm fully booked until the 20th; could we start then?" Many clients are happy to wait for someone reliable.
Suggest someone else
If you know another person who does similar work, a referral keeps the relationship warm.
Keep it short
You don't need to explain your schedule in detail. A clear, friendly no is better than a reluctant yes.
